What did I do before becoming a driving instructor?

I have worked in hospitality for most of my career. I have always been great with people and enjoyed working with the public (most of the time). I had my first managerial role at an Australian coffee chain called ‘Muffin Break’, this gave me extensive experience in team leading, training, and customer service. I then decided to try my hand at getting a degree, I studied towards becoming a Veterinary Physiotherapist as I love animals. Unfortunately, I never did quite make it to the end having been diagnosed with Lymphoma at 21. After surviving Cancer, Covid, and having a baby I am now very excited to start my new career as a Driving Instructor.

Why did I become a driving instructor?

I wanted to be able to pursue a career whilst being a mum. This can be very challenging and I spent evenings brainstorming how I could balance the two. One of my biggest passions is working with people, training them, and helping them grow. I have always been a very confident driver and very much enjoy being out on the road. As soon as the idea was mentioned I knew straight away that becoming a driving instructor was the right path for me. I have loved every bit of my learning journey and strive to be one of the very best.

What do I enjoy about training people?

Training people is very rewarding, especially when you can bring out more than the pupil thought they were capable of. I love building great relationships and guiding people on a journey. Driving is a big part of life for most and a necessary skill in today's world. Helping people achieve something that will likely open lots of opportunities is as good as it gets.

What's your favourite car?

Even though I do love driving I am not a massive fan of any particular cars. If I had to pick one that does always make me second look it would be an Audi R8.

What do I do when I'm not in the driving seat?

I love animals and nature. I have a horse, a dog, and a cat and spend a lot of time at the stables. I would say being out in the countryside is a form of meditation for me, especially on horseback. Aside from that, I spend all my time with my family.

What's my pet hate in the Road?

I hate anything that compromises someone's safety. Driving over the speed limit especially in built-up areas and just general carelessness. When someone drives up close behind trying to intimidate is also very annoying. A personal one of mine would be driving to close or fast past my horse.

What's my favourite holiday destination?

I love experiencing different cultures and I hope to take my son to various parts of the world too. I would say my favourite destination so far would be either The Netherlands as everyone is so friendly or Morrocco as we went camping in the desert on camelback (Although we underestimated how cold the desert is when the sun
goes down).

Surprising fact about me?

Trying to answer this question has made me feel quite boring! I think the thing that always shocks people to know is that I was (still would be if I had the time) a massive gamer.
